100 Things About Me
1. I have lived in Idaho all my life.
2. I love Idaho! I love that you can be in the city (well, we don't have HUGE cities, but we do have a few medium-sized cities) and then 30 minutes later be hiking in the mountains or water skiing on the lake ...
3. The only other place I would want to live might be Seattle. I love Seattle too!
4. But I will probably live in Idaho my whole life. My family, my kids, my friends ... everyone I know is here.
5. I have attended 3 different universities in my life.
6. So far I do not have any degrees to show for it.
7. But I will have a Bachelor's Degree before 2007 is over!
8. By the time I am done, I will have accumulated enough college credits to have several degrees. They just aren't the RIGHT credits.
9. I have changed my major more times than I can count in the years and YEARS that I have been attending college.
10. I wish that I had just kept my first major and finished school in four years. Because that would mean that I would be DONE right now ... and it doesn't even matter what my degree would be in, because I am already in a position that has nothing (or very little) to do with what my final degree will be.
11. I lived in a sorority house for two years.
12. I loved it! It was a great experience, and I am still friends with many of the women I met.
13. 100 things is a lot! I hope I can come up with 100 things!
14. I am engaged to my best friend.
15. I am so lucky to have him. He is funny, smart, kind, supportive, understanding of my "issues" ...
16. One of my many "issues" is that I have anxiety. About everything. But especially social anxiety. I feel very uncomfortable in any kind of social situation. There are very few people in my life who I can be "social" with and feel completely comfortable.
17. Lexapro is an amazing drug! It has worked wonders for me.
18. Social anxiety still troubles me, however.
19. Most of the time I ignore it and try to go out and have fun and not worry about every little thing I say or do ...
20. but sometimes I let the anxiety overtake, and just sit at home alone instead of having to be social.
21. Another "issue" is that I am messy.
22. My fiance calls me "Messy Jessi" ...
23. He cleans more than I do.
24. It is actually picking up clutter that is the worst. I would clean toilets and mop the floors all day long if I never had to pick up the "stuff" and figure out where it goes.
25. I also hate laundry. Mainly the putting away part of laundry. I could wash and dry and throw it on the couch in a big heap all day long ...
26. I constantly start projects (especially craft projects) but never finish them. I blame this on a disorder called crafting ADD. (so what if I invented this "disorder"? It doesn't make it a pretend disorder. I am just an amazing scientist, uncovering new, never-before-discovered personality disorders! Now if I could just find a cure ... )
27. My started-but-never completed projects outnumber my completed projects by about a million to one.
28. I used to plan gifts to make for people, and then I wouldn't get them done in time, so I would wrap up a partially-completed project and give it to them. But then I never completed them. I can think of 3 crochet afghans that I have started and never finished, but have already been given to their recipients.
29. One of them was a baby shower gift ... that "baby" is now six years old.
30. I still have about a third of the baby blanket to go ... it is sitting at the bottom of my closet.
31. It is way too small to give to a six year old.
32. After I began to get a reputation for giving gifts and never finishing them, I stopped giving half finished gifts.
33. I hate the fact that I cannot focus on one thing long enough to get it done.
32. I HATE IT!!
33. I have actually completed a few projects, and given them away as gifts. These completed projects are generally small and/or quick, because the crafting ADD tends to take over in long projects.
34. I have other types of ADD disorders too.
35. There are many times I have driven home and when I get there, I don't remember driving.
36. I lose my car keys constantly. Sometimes I find them in weird spots, like the kitchen pantry or the bathroom counter.
37. Luckily my fiance loves me inspite of my spaciness.
38. I am actually fairly intelligent. I can form gramatically correct sentences. I read and understand company financial statements. I am aware of current events. I can operate a computer very well. I research things that I do not know the answer to. I am currently employed in a position that I have no experience in, just because my coworkers were confident in my ability to figure it out, and figure it out quickly.
39. But yet, I am still a spacecadet. I forget things and say things that are stupid, on a daily basis. My fiance always laughs at me ... he tells me I am very smart, but I do not-smart things frequently.
40. I tell him that it is part of my charm.
41. He rolls his eyes.
42. I love chocolate. I am currently eating hershey kisses that I stole from my youngest son.
43. I don't think a dessert is worth eating unless it has some sort of chocolate flavor.
44. Unless it is cheesecake.
45. Ummmmm .... chocolate and cheesecake together. Now that is heaven.
46. I get my sweet tooth from my dad.
47. My dad has a constant stash of hershey kisses. He will eat chocolate pudding for dinner if there is no one around to cook a real meal for him.
48. I would SO do that also!
49. I also like to sleep a lot.
50. Actually, I don't LIKE to sleep a lot, its just that I get sleepy really easy.
51. I could pretty much sleep any time of day. Light, noise, couch, floor, recliner ... doesn't matter the environment. If I am tired, I will sleep.
52. Caffeine does not keep me awake.
53. If I have too much coffee, I get jittery ... but I could still fall asleep.
54. I love warm drinks. Coffee, hot chocolate, hot tea ... they are my favorite comfort foods.
55. My favorite hot chocolate is Stephen's Mint Chocolate. It is delicious.
56. My favorite foods to eat (if I go out to eat) are Italian and seafood. yummy.
57. My favorite color is blue. I love all shades of blue.
58. Sometimes I get on kicks where I love other colors too ...
59. For example, right now I am in love with red and chocolate brown.
60. My living room, dining room, and kitchen are all in red and chocolate brown.
61. But still, every time I see a blue article of clothing or a pretty blue flower, or a new baby all bundled up in blue, I fall in love with it all over again.
62. When I was pregnant and I found out that my baby was a boy, I was excited because I like blue way more than pink. (Yes, that is what I cared about at the time ... )
63. Now that I am surrounded by boys, I want a girl. I want pink stuff and Barbie stuff and make up and crafts.
64. Because there is only so much superhero, sports, video games, and "bad guys" that a girl can take, before she starts to miss the girly stuff!
65. We have a blended family.
66. Little Brother is mine, from a previous relationship.
67. Big Brother is The Technician's, from a previous relationship.
68. So our family is "his, mine," and hopefully someday we will add an "ours" to that ... (A GIRL "ours"! Please, God?!?)
69. I joke with T that we will just keep trying until we get a girl.
70. He does not think that is funny. At. All.
71. My best friend recently had twins. T does not think the idea of having twins is funny At. All. NO. WAY.
72. I only want one more child as well ... but it is fun to torment him with the idea of a few more ...
73. My best friend who had twins also bought a minivan ... and now I want one! I love all of the space inside ... I have never wanted a minivan, but now I do! (I am nothing if not a follower!)
74. I have now been working on this list for 12 days. I write a few each day, but 100 things is a lot to come up with!
75. I love the show Friends ...
76. I decided to name my blog posts (on Jessi's Crochet Cafe) similar to the naming of Friends ("The One With ..." etc.) because it is easier than trying to come up with clever titles ... and also because Friends was set in a coffee shop, so I thought it sort of tied in with my coffee theme.
77. I have most all of the seasons on DVD ... and I have watched every episode multiple times
78. I especially watch them when I am depressed or stressed ... because the are funny and I can just sort of mindlessly watch without having to get really "in" to it.
79. I love photography. I have had a passion for photography for as long as I can remember. Even when I was a kid I had phases where I wanted to be a photographer "when I grew up"
80. One of my "I wants" is a fancy digital SLR camera ... and photoshop.
81. I have photoshop elements, but I want the real, full version.
82. The latest release of photoshop is supposed to work great on the new intel processor Macs, which is what I have.
83. I love Macs ... I will never buy another PC.
84. I have used PC's all my life, and currently use one at work every day. However, when I get home I want to kiss and hug my beautiful, simple, sleek, elegant, and powerful iMac.
85. I love everything about Apple, really. I love the fancy-looking (but simple to use!) OS and software.
86. Another thing that I love about Apple is their packaging. Yes, that's right, the packaging of their products. Maybe it is shallow and stupid ... but whenever I have purchased products from Apple (several computers, a couple of iPods, photobooks) and I receive them, I always love the packaging that they come in. Very classy. Sleek and sexy. I paid good money for these products, and it is delivered to me in a way that makes me feel like I invested my money well. I feel like they put effort into making their outsides look just as good as their insides look and work. I am a dork. I have thought about Apple packaging way too much maybe.
87. Other "favorites" of mine: hydrangeas and tulips; cadbury creme eggs; Oprah; Italian food and seafood; Pepsi.
88. I enjoy traveling, but haven't done a lot ... I have been to Europe.
89. I went to England, France, Switzerland, and Italy on a 16-day student tour group in high school.
90. My favorite was Italy.
91. I have been just over the border to Canada ... can't remember the name of the tiny town, but it was mainly to go drinking (the drinking age is 19 I believe, instead of 21 like here) when I was in the sorority ... don't remember much of the trip.
92. I have never been to Mexico.
93. In the United States, I have been to Seattle and San Francisco and Los Angeles (disneyland!) and the Oregon Coast, and Denver.
94. I spent a 5 hour layover in the New York City Airport once.
95. And on the way back from our Europe trip, we did a half-day tour of Philadelphia.
96. One of my "before I die" goals is to visit all 50 states.
97. I am most excited for Hawaii and the New England states ... I am dying to see New England in the fall.
98. If you made it this far in my list of things about me ... then I admire your stamina and fortitude, for continuing on inspite of being bored. to. tears.
99. I personally love to read other people's list of 100 things about them ... even if they don't lead a movie-star exciting life.
100. That is the reason that I decided to come up with 100 things about me! Not to see how many people I could kill from boredom, but because I think there might be a few other nosy people out there like me, who love to know more about the people they read about. I'm kinda like a stalker that way. Hope you enjoyed! (or at least survived!)
